This weekend, volunteers across Poland are handing over packages prepared by donors with items the families need and want most, including household appliances, childcare equipment and firewood.

One of the donors, Elżbieta Lewy, told Poland’s IAR news agency: “I feel joy that I could help someone.” She added: “Sometimes we have no idea how dire the situations are of families living among us, our next door neighbours.”

Joanna Sadzik, chair of the Wiosna Association, which organises the event said that help does not end with giving the parcel. The donors have the opportunity to learn more about the families’ needs and may have an impact on solving their problems.

Public figures who took part in preparing Noble Parcels this year include Polish President Andrzej Duda and First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda, the Polish national football squad and tennis-playing sisters Agnieszka and Ula Radwańska.
