Apart from the nomination for Pawlikowski as director, the film is in the running for awards for ‘Film Not in the English Language’, ‘Original Screenplay’ (Janusz Głowacki and Paweł Pawlikowski), and ‘Cinematography’ (Łukasz Żal).

The BAFTA Awards take place on Sunday, February 10, at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Cold War is a love story between two people of different backgrounds and temperaments, set against the backdrop of the Cold War in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

The film has been showered with prizes in recent months, including the European Film Awards in five categories.

It is one of nine films in the running for an Oscar for best foreign-language film.

A final shortlist of five candidates is to be announced on January 22. An Academy Awards gala in Los Angeles is scheduled for February 24.
