The concert includes Bartok’s Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta and Bruckner’s Symphony No. 6.

The Kraków performance ends the orchestra’s tour of Poland that included stops in Wrocław and Warsaw earlier this week.

On those two occasions, the orchestra performed Stanisław Moniuszko’s Highland Dances as an encore, announced by the conductor, Sir Simon Rattle, in Polish.

This year is being marked as the Year of Moniuszko in honour of the father of Polish national opera, who was born 200 years ago.
