Three Oscar nominations for Pawlikowski’s ‘Cold War’

Polish-British director Paweł Pawlikowski’s award-winning film “Cold War” has received three nominations for an Oscar.

The critically-acclaimed movie is the running for an Academy Award for best foreign-language film, best director and best cinematography.

Pawlikowski will be battling for an Oscar against renowned directors such as Spike Lee and Alfonso Cuaron.

In the best foreign-language film category, Cold War will be up against movies from Germany, Lebanon, Japan and Mexico.

The Academy Awards gala will be held in Los Angeles on February 24.

Cold War is a love story between two people of different backgrounds and temperaments, set against the backdrop of the Cold War in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

The movie has been showered with prizes in recent months, including the European Film Awards in five categories.
