Homeless headcount in Poland

A headcount was to be carried out overnight starting on Wednesday evening to find out how many homeless people there are in Poland.

Police, social workers, employees of NGOs and volunteers were to help conduct the survey, run by the family, labour and social policy ministry.

They were to check homeless shelters, rail and bus stations, homes for mothers and pregnant women, hospitals and detention centres.

The last such count, two years ago, found there were over 33,400 people living rough in Poland, of whom more than eight in ten were men.
