Among guests visiting her at home with birthday wishes and presents was the province governor, who handed her a letter from Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

In it, the premier wrote that Tekla Juniewicz is a treasure-trove of knowledge for generations of Poles.

“I am very happy to know that you continue to be in good health, ready to share your experience, which is for us a priceless heritage,” Morawiecki wrote.

Enjoying a piece of strawberry cake and reminiscing, Tekla Juniewicz told her guests that she feels she is in great shape.

She is cared for by two of her grandchildren. She likes watching television and commenting once in a while on political arguments voiced in debates.

Tekla Juniewicz’s husband was 20 years her senior. They had two daughters.

At 113, she is the seventh oldest citizen in Europe and the 21st oldest person in the world.
