Unemployment fell by 0.3 percent in May in Poland, with the jobless rate now being recorded at 12.6 percent.
Year-on-year, however, the unemployment rate was 0.2 percent higher than in May 2011.
The highest unemployment rate is in the north-east Warmia and Mazury province at 19.7 percent.
The lowest number was found in the western Wielkopolska province, recording a 9.3 percent jobless rate, according to data by the central statistical office (GUS).
According to the president of Poland’s Business Centre Club, Marek Goliszewski, the fall in unemployment is due to people finding work in the construction sector, as well as in hotel and catering during Euro 2012. (pg)
