The service between Krakow Airport and Barcelona's El Prat Airport got under way on Saturday, and will continue this year until 16 September, with pilots flying Airbus A320s.

Besides the Saturday service, those wanting to take advantage of the link may also fly on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The number of passengers using connections between Krakow and Spain has more than doubled in the last three years.

In 2013, some 173,500 passengers made use of services on offer. The most popular are the all-year links with Madrid and Alicante. There are also seasonal connections with Majorca and Malaga, as well as with Girona-Costa Brava airport, 92 km from Barcelona. (nh)
