Warsaw has been classified as a local diversified financial centre in the report. It recorded the greatest improvement in the ranking, gaining 55 points compared to the previous report and scoring 626 points this time.

It is far behind such giants as New York (ranked first), London, Hong Kong, Singapore and Zurich. However, the Polish capital was ranked higher than a number of European cities, including Copenhagen, Dublin, Madrid, Helsinki and Moscow.

The report used five main areas of competitiveness to rank financial centres: business environment, human capital, financial sector development, infrastructure and reputation.

New York was ranked highest and London was the second in most of these categories (human capital, business environment, infrastructure and reputation). London was the best in terms of financial sector development.

In terms of reputation, Seoul, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo have gained the most since the previous ranking. At the same time Moscow, St. Petersburg and Stockholm have lost points in this area. (kw)
