Black Friday deals in Poland are not as common as they are in the US, but some innovative retailers have discounted their products on the day after Thanksgiving.

Online shoppers enjoyed discounts from auction site Allegro, clothing retailer New Yorker and technology chain Komputronik. Even national airline LOT has joined the party with a 15 percent discount on all its flights booked until the 1st of December.

More to be Done

Despite the marketing, experts doubt the concept of Black Friday will significantly take off in Poland.

“It seems that the attempt to introduce Black Friday to Poland is just one way of attracting customers,” Mateusz Gordon, an e-commerce expert at Gemius, wrote in a statement.

“If this strategy is not supported by a well-organised marketing campaign among Polish online stores, eg. Free delivery or special discounts, there is no reason for Poles to buy more on that day,” he continues.

It also seems that deals in Poland are less likely to be done on a Black Friday that on any other day in November.

According to Gemius tech-oriented pollsters, Polish e-shoppers made up just 3.26 percent of all internet traffic on Black Friday 2013, while the average for the whole month was 3.33 percent. (rg/jb)
