The magazine quoted unnamed sources close to Germany's Finance Ministry led by Wolfgang Schauble that countries on the outskirts of the euro zone could have economic troubles.
Because of this, “it is quite possible that [both] countries need to find a new exchange rate to the euro, or abandon their commitment to the common currency altogether,” Der Spiegel writes.
The European Central Bank announced a EUR 60-billion-a-month Quantitative Easing plan to buy private and public bonds in an attempt to help liquidity in the euro zone. (rg)
