Official: GDP growth at 3.4% in 2014

Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) announced on Friday that seasonally unadjusted economic growth in the country amounted to 3.4 percent in 2014, up from 1.7 percent in 2013.

The GDP figure is up by 0.1 percent on previous estimates, GUS reported.

According to the latest statistics, nominal GDP in 2014 amounted to PLN 1,728,676.6 million (PLN 1.728 trillion), up from PLN 1,662,678.1 million in 2013.

GUS also announced that gross value added (GVA) rose by 1.8 percent in 2013 and by 3.2 percent in 2014. In industry, GVA rose by 1.3 and 4.1 percent and in construction by 0.3 and 4.7 percent in the respective years.

Meanwhile, domestic demand rose by 0.4 percent in 2013 and 4.9 percent in 2014 year-on-year, while domestic consumption rose by 1.2 and 3.1 percent for households in 2013 and 2014, with public consumption up by 2.1 percent and 4.7 percent.

In terms of trade, exports rose by 4.8 percent in 2013 and 5.7 percent in 2014, while imports rose by 1.8 percent and as much as 9.1 perent in the respective years. (jb)
