GUS: industrial production figures exceed expectations

According to the Central Statistical Office (GUS), industrial production grew by 8.8 percent y/y in March, more than analysts expected.

Analysts had expected a rise of 6.8 percent over the previous year.
Month-on-month the figure grew in March by 13.4 percent.
Meanwhile, retail sales also jumped up by three percent year-on-year in the first three months of the year, GUS data said.
Market forecasts indicated a growth of 1.5 percent.
Analysts at mBank said this was good news for the Polish economy. (rg)
