In total, Kazakhstan imported 30,000 tonnes of apples this Spring, compared with 24,000 tonnes in that of 2014.

Meanwhile, overall imports of Polish apples from July 2014 to May 2015 reached record levels, with a total of 71,000 tonnes.

Russia placed an embargo on the import of Polish fruit and vegetables on 1 August 2014, as part of a wave of santions and counter-sanctions sparked by the Ukrainian crisis.

Since then, Poland has been trying to forge ahead with new markets, including India and North Africa. (nh)
