The figure stood at PLN 3,853.88 (EUR 915.57, USD 1,019.40), GUS said.

In the first quarter of 2015, the average gross wage in Poland was PLN 4,054.89, GUS said in May.

In net terms, the average wage in Poland stood at around EUR 634,49 in 2014, according to Eurostat.

This was much lower than Germany (EUR 2,315.20), the UK (EUR 2,810.26) and slightly below the Czech Republic and Slovakia (EUR 725,92 and EUR 664.77 respectively).

Countries with lower salaries include Bulgaria (EUR 324,89), Romania (EUR 345,56) and Hungary (EUR 532,08).

Over the past decade, millions of Poles have left the country to find work abroad, particularly the UK, Germany and Norway.

Newly-appointed President Andrzej Duda made it a cornerstone of his election campaign to create conditions to check the job emigration trend.

The unemployment level in Poland stood at 10.3 percent in June. (rg/rk)
