The Ministry of Infrastructure and Development said applications for grants in the first "Design Competition in Eastern Poland 2014-2020” will be submitted from 20 October to 30 December 2015 to the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP).

The programme is directed to the Warmia-Mazury, Podlasie, Podkarpackie, Lublin provinces.

The aim of the project is to encourage innovative solutions. Money for implementation - consulting services related to design, market research, purchase of machinery and equipment – will be part of a second stage.

"What is important is that companies applying for support must first choose a contractor for their design and enter into a conditional agreement,” the ministry said in a statement.

Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and development Iwona Wendel told the Polish press agency PAP that many companies in Poland need support in the development of industrial design. "Only a small number of mature businesses operating today in Poland actually consciously use industrial design," Wendel said. (jh/rk)
