President signs into law Poland’s 2016 budget

President Andrzej Duda has signed into law Poland’s 2016 budget based on a projections of 3.8 percent GDP growth, inflation of 1.7 percent and a public finance sector deficit of 2.8 percent of GDP.

The budget sets a maximum deficit of PLN 54.7 billion. Budget revenue is expected to be PLN 313.79 billion, and spending at PLN 368.53 billion.

Poland’s upper house, the Senate, last month passed the budget in draft form, approving 20 amendments, which were then adopted by the lower house.

Polish Development Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has said that in practice the budget deficit in 2016 will amount to less than PLN 54 billion. (pk)
