Poland's Łucznik signs major arms contract

The Łucznik company has signed a PLN 156 million contract to supply the Polish army with assault rifles.

The firm, based in Radom, east-central Poland, will produce some 26,000 weapons for the country's army.
The contract is the largest signed by the company since 2000.
Hanna Węglewska, the spokeswoman for Polish Armaments Group, Łucznik's parent company, said that the Polish army would be provided with over 17,600 Beryl assault rifles and 8,400 units of mini-Beryl rifles.
“Once again the Polish army bestowed their confidence in us. The agreement brings a lot of benefits. Soldiers get a modern, reliable and, most importantly: equipment which is 100 percent made in Poland, and through this partnership, we will acquire the means to develop further,” the company wrote in a press release.
