The decision followed a vote by the Cabinet on the issue, Prime Minister Beata Szydło announced.

She said that the Treasury Ministry will function until the end of this year, and a new body will take over its duties from January 2017.

“Today, the head of the Treasury, Minister Dawid Jackiewicz introduced a resolution which indicates the schedule for the liquidation of the Treasury Ministry,” Szydło said, adding that the move is line with the roadmap of the prime minister’s office, and had been announced at the beginning of her tenure.

The Law and Justice (PiS) party swept to power after it won the 25 October general elections. (rg/pk)
