More passengers at Polish airports

The number of passengers using Polish airports hit 15.2 million in the first half of this year, up more than 10 percent on the same period in 2015, officials have said.

The most popular destinations were Britain, Germany and Norway.

Poland’s Civil Aviation Authority said that the most passengers on regular national and international services flew with Ryanair.

The Irish low-cost carrier notched up a 31 percent share of the market with more than 4.4 million passengers.

It was followed by Polish state-owned carrier LOT and Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air.

Warsaw’s Chopin Airport was picked by the most passengers, followed by Balice near Kraków, southern Poland, and Lech Wałęsa airport near the northern city of Gdańsk.
