Officials from the Polish foreign affairs ministry, development ministry, state treasury and a group of entrepreneurs were Waszczykowski’s travelling companions on the first new direct and regular LOT service from Warsaw to Seoul.

They will discuss economic cooperation between Poland and South Korea, which the Polish foreign ministry’s press officer said “is one of the pillars of the strategic partnership between our countries”.

A 2017-2020 action plan mapping out cooperation between Poland and South Korea is expected to be signed during Waszczykowski’s visit.

The foreign minister will also meet with representatives of the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission, which oversees relations between North and South Korea.

Poland has been a member of the commission since it was established by the Korean Armistice Agreement in 1953.

LOT’s new direct 10-hour flight to Seoul will depart three times a week. (vb/pk)
