Poland is in talks with China to export more products to that country, Deputy Agriculture Minister Jacek Bogucki has said.

Bogucki was speaking after returning from China, where he led a delegation of Polish officials visiting the country last week.

Poland is interested in selling produce such as pork and poultry in China, according to Bogucki.

Chinese officials are “favourably disposed” to the idea, though for the time being produce such as Polish pork cannot be exported there for veterinary reasons, he said on Monday.

While in China, Bogucki talked to officials in institutions including that country’s Agriculture Ministry and the General Bureau of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ).

He also attended the opening of a trade fair in Beijing of which Poland was a partner country.

In late October, China opened its market to Polish hatching eggs and day-old chicks. In early November, it gave the green light for imports of Polish apples. (str/pk)
