In the fourth quarter of 2016, 38 percent of the companies surveyed by Grant Thornton announced that they will raise the salaries of its employees. None said they would slash wages.

This is the best result since the survey was started in 2009.

According to the report, if Polish employers stuck to their word, Poland would be among the countries with the fastest growing salaries.

Out of 37 countries surveyed by Grant Thornton, only Sweden joined Poland at the top of the ranking with a result of 38 percent.

The average result for the whole survey was 19 percent; with a 20-percent result in the European Union, and 18 percent in the Eurozone.
