Wages up in Poland

Average wages in companies employing more than nine people in Poland rose 5.2 percent year on year in March to PLN 4,577 (USD 1,155, EUR 1,072) a month, according to the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS).

Analysts approached by the PAP news agency had expected a 4.1 percent wage rise in the corporate sector.

Corporate sector employment stood at nearly 6 million in March, 4.5 percent up on the same month last year, according to the Central Statistical Office.

Analysts approached by PAP had expected a 4.6 percent increase.

Wages in March were 6.3 percent up on February, while employment rose 0.1 percent month on month, the Central Statistical Office said.
