Poland likely to see key US investment in coming years: AmCham chairman

At present, the value of US companies' investment in Poland is about USD 41-42 billion. This directly translates into more than 220,000 jobs, niezalezna.pl reported.

The biggest American players on the Polish market in recent years are companies such as Amazon and media concern Scripps Networks Interactive, while firms active in R&D -- such as HP, IBM and 3M -- have several thousand engineers working in Poland on global projects, according to niezalezna.pl.

American companies have been present on the Polish market since the 1990s. According to Housh, the type of US investment in this country has changed, with an increasing focus on the research and development sector, niezalezna.pl reported.

The information and communication technology sector, advanced technology and aviation companies are also heavily engaged.

More Polish firms exporting directly to US

Meanwhile, more and more Polish companies are exporting their products directly to the United States, according to niezalezna.pl.

Housh was cited by niezalezna.pl as saying there are several important sectors in Poland that US companies are interested in, not only further R&D projects, but also projects involving military modernization.

He said he was optimistic as to whether this week’s visit by US President Donald Trump to Poland would lead to deals being signed.

Housh pointed out that Poland is generating interest as a business partner because it is the sixth largest economy in the EU with strong growth and optimistic GDP forecasts for the next few years.

Capital likes success, and many American companies have succeeded in Poland. Poland is also seen as a launchpad for Central Europe and the whole of the EU in terms of investment projects, he added, as cited by niezalezna.pl.
