Poland is free from bird flu, the World Health Organisation has said after a three-month period in which no new cases of infection were reported.

The last recorded outbreak of the virus in April followed a series of contaminations in late 2016 and early 2017.
Poland is a leading poultry producer in Europe. While European Union countries are the main markets for Polish poultry exports and the industry did not take a major hit, exports to some Asian and African countries were stopped. (vb/pk)
