The eggs, about 40,000 in total, will be disposed of or returned to their supplier in Germany, said Jan Bondar, a spokesman of Poland’s Chief Sanitary Inspectorate.

Earlier this week, Poland’s Chief Veterinary Officer Paweł Niemczuk said that contaminated eggs were not sent to this country.

Retailers in several EU countries have withdrawn millions of eggs after traces of the insecticide fipronil were found in some batches.
