The Moody's ratings agency’s decision not to update Poland's rating and keep it unchanged at its "highest-ever" level is good news for the country, Deputy Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has said.

Moody's late last week said it had not updated its rating for Poland, which means it stays unchanged at A2 with a stable outlook.

The agency was expected to update the rating late on Friday.

Morawiecki, who is also minister for finance and development, told reporters that "Moody's is one of the three agencies that are maintaining our highest-ever rating."

"They confirmed it while also raising our 2017 GDP growth forecast from 3.2 to 4.3 percent," he said on Monday.

"This is very good news for us and it has spread worldwide,” Morawiecki added. "I have had many positive responses."

In May, Moody’s reaffirmed Poland's A2 rating and upgraded its outlook from negative to stable. (gs/pk)
