The average Polish monthly salary in August grew 6.6 percent year on year, and stood at PLN 4,492.63 (EUR 1,048) gross, the Central Statistics Office (GUS) said on Monday.

The figures have surpassed the expectations of economists, who predicted growth of 5.7 percent. In July, salaries went up by 4.9 percent y/y.
Economists attribute the upswing in salaries to a shrinking supply of labour in Poland.
”The growth rate recorded, which is the highest since 2012, certainly confirms the scenario of higher wage pressure exerted on the labour market,” analysts from Raiffeisen Polbank said.
