Investment is picking up speed in Poland; in the third quarter it grew by between 4 and 5 percent, up from 0.8 percent in the second quarter, Finance Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has said.

In the fourth quarter, the rate at which investment is growing in the country will likely accelerate to 8 to 9 percent, according to Morawiecki, who is also minister for development as well as deputy prime minister.

Next year investment is expected to grow at a similar rate as in 2017 or “even faster,” Morawiecki told reporters on Thursday.

He also said that the country’s 2017 GDP growth was well on track to exceed the government’s projection of 3.6 percent.

The Moody’s rating agency has strongly upgraded Poland’s 2017 GDP forecast to 4.3 percent from an earlier projection of 3.2 percent.
