Poland’s exports up by 7.7% y/y: stats office

Poland’s exports between January and August grew by 7.7 percent year-on-year, reaching PLN 562.5 billion (EUR 132 bn), the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) has said.

Imports grew by 9.6 percent over the same period, and stood at PLN 558.7 billion.
The trade surplus approached PLN 3.8 billion, down from PLN 12.5 bn a year earlier.
Poland’s exports to the United States and EU countries outstripped imports from these markets, GUS said.
A trade deficit was recorded in relation to Central and Eastern European states and developing countries, the agency added. (aba/pk)
