The unemployment rate in the EU as a whole was 7.5% in September, stable compared to August and down from 8.4% in September 2016, Eurostat said.

“This remains the lowest rate recorded in the EU28 since November 2008,” Eurostat added, referring to the 28 countries in the European Union.

Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS), which uses a different methodology to Eurostat, said last week that joblessness in Poland fell to a new low of 6.8 percent in September.

In August, unemployment in Poland stood at 7 percent, according to the Polish statistics office.
