Polish Defence Minister Antoni Macierewicz said on Twitter that it was “very good news”.

Poland wants to purchase Lockheed Martin’s HIMARS long-range, truck-mounted multiple rocket launcher systems worth USD 250 million as well as 150 Raytheon mid-range air-to-air missiles for F-16 jets.

US law requires Congress to be notified about arms deals before weapons of significant value are exported.

The State Department has notified Congress about Poland's order and if it does not object within 15 days the deals will get a green light. (vb/pk)
