Consumers bought more clothing, furniture, home appliances and electronics in February compared with the same month last year, according to the statistics office.

Sales of goods such as pharmaceuticals and cosmetics also increased, GUS said.

Meanwhile, retail sales last month were 2.8 percent lower than in January in constant prices, the office reported.

Urszula Kryńska, an economist with state-run PKO Bank Polski, said that consumption remained robust across the country on the back of growing wages and strong consumer sentiment.
