Morawiecki wrote on Twitter that unemployment is a major problem for many people and that there are about 1.09 million Poles out of work.

Although joblessness in Poland is now "the lowest in 27 years, we know how it affects the lives of Polish families," Morawiecki tweeted.

"This is why fighting it is one of the key priorities of my government," he said.

Unemployment in Poland crept down to 6.6 percent in March from 6.8 percent in February, the country’s labour minister, Elżbieta Rafalska, said on Monday.

There were 1,093,500 people out of work at the end of March, 33,200 fewer than in February, Rafalska’s Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy said.

According to the European Union's Eurostat statistics agency, Poland's jobless rate was in February the sixth-lowest in the 28-nation bloc.
