A bill paving the way for the sector in Poland is being prepared, Law and Justice MP Zbigniew Gryglas, head of the offshore wind energy parliamentary committee, told Money.pl.

Gryglas said that Poland could build wind farms with a total capacity of 6 GW by 2030, which could be further increased to 10 GW by 2040, he added.

Grygiel said: “We believe offshore wind energy generation could be a Polish specialty.”

The European Union allows for member states to give preference to domestic suppliers in the sector.

“Polish companies are already strong players in the offshore sector,” he said, adding that these have so far been producing wind farms for foreign operators.

The share of Polish enterprises in the sector could reach 40-50 percent, and could eventually increase to 80 percent, Grygiel told Money.pl.

Poland’s biggest power group, PGE, said it could build wind farms with a capacity of 1 GW for PLN 12-14 bn, Money reported.
