Polish inflation at 2 percent in August: stats office

Inflation in Poland stood at 2 percent in year-on-year terms in August, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Thursday.

The reading, unchanged from June and July, was in line with a flash estimate released by the office at the end of last month.

Inflation has remained steady at 2 percent year-on-year for three consecutive months, according to the statistics office.

Inflation in May was at 1.7 percent.

Inflation in the country stood at 1.6 percent year on year in April, while the March figure was 1.3 percent.

Inflation in February stood at 1.4 percent in year-on-year terms, while the January reading was 1.9 percent.

In December last year, the prices of consumer goods and services in Poland rose 2.1 percent compared with the same month a year earlier.
