Poland on Monday had its capital market upgraded to developed market status by global equity index provider FTSE Russell.

FTSE Russell, which is part of the London Stock Exchange Group, announced the move in September last year.

The Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) at the time welcomed the announcement, saying that the decision meant Poland “has joined the 25 most developed economies of the world,” including Germany, France, Japan, Australia and the United States.

The decision officially came into force on Monday.
