Polish inflation at 1.9% in September: stats office

Inflation in Poland stood at 1.9 percent in year-on-year terms in September, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Monday.

In a flash estimate at the start of this month, the statistical office estimated that inflation stood at 1.8 percent year-on-year in September.

The prices of consumer goods and services rose 2 percent year-on-year in August, unchanged from June and July.

Inflation in May was at 1.7 percent, at 1.6 percent year on year in April, while the March figure was 1.3 percent.

Inflation in February stood at 1.4 percent in year-on-year terms, while the January reading was 1.9 percent.

In December last year, the prices of consumer goods and services in Poland rose 2.1 percent compared with the same month a year earlier.

Poland’s government recently approved a budget for 2019 which expects the economy to grow a healthy 3.8 percent, with inflation targeted at 2.3 percent.
