"Polish ports transhipped more than 87 million tonnes of cargo in total in 2017, which was 8.7 percent more than in 2016,” the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation said on Wednesday.

"2018 promises to be even better because we could exceed a historic record of 100 million tonnes," the ministry added.

The northern Baltic port of Gdańsk handled the most cargo in Poland in 2017 – over 40 million tonnes, according to the ministry.
