Uber to invest millions in Poland’s Kraków, Warsaw

Ride-hailing company Uber will invest millions to develop its research and development centre in the southern Polish city of Kraków, a news agency has reported.

The US-based giant is also expected to expand its Warsaw office overseeing the development of its Uber and Uber Eats platforms, Poland's PAP news agency has reported.
The company's total investment in Poland this year is expected to come to PLN 26 million (EUR 6 million, USD 6.9 million), according to the news agency.
It reported Polish government officials announced the plans in Warsaw on Tuesday at a joint news conference with Jamie Heywood, Uber's regional general manager for Northern and Eastern Europe.
Infrastructure Minister Andrzej Adamczyk was cited as telling reporters that Uber's work on projects including new electric bikes would help create modern transport options for city dwellers.
Meanwhile, a group of taxi drivers protested in central Warsaw, claiming Uber was unfair competition, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
