Int'l business conference in Poland’s Katowice

Some 12,000 politicians, businesspeople and economic policy makers from across Europe were on Monday set to kick off three days of debate in the southern Polish city of Katowice.

Billed as the largest business event in Central Europe, the annual European Economic Congress in Katowice explores key economic challenges in Poland, Europe and the wider world.
This year’s expected guests include a contingent of Polish government officials, among them Enterprise and Technology Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz, Investment and Development Minister Jerzy Kwieciński, and Energy Minister Krzysztof Tchórzewski.
The debates will focus on various issues in business and technology, including Polish energy policy to 2040, the market for liquefied natural gas (LNG), and the planned construction of a new hub airport in central Poland.
Participants are also expected to discuss the future of the European Union after Brexit, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency has reported.
The 11th European Economic Congress runs until Wednesday.
It is accompanied by European Start-up Days, an event that starts on Tuesday and is expected to attract an additional 3,000 participants.
