Conservation of Auschwitz barracks underway

Reporter Michał Kubicki spoke to Paweł Sawicki from the Auschwitz Museum’s Press Department about the long-term maintenance of the camp site.

In his view, the establishment of the Fund ‘shows the significance of Auschwitz not only to the history of Jews or Poles’.

Sawicki says: ‘When we see that among the countries which contributed to the Fund are New Zealand, Canada and Argentina, we see that the meaning of Auschwitz goes beyond historical borders and historical symbolism because the countries and educational systems around the world acknowledge the universal lesson that can be taken from the history of Auschwitz. It is very uplifting and gives us hope for the future.’
