The orchestra, conducted by its Music Director Andres Orozco-Estrada, is expected to perform works by Leonard Bernstein (Three Dance Episodes from the musical On the Town and Serenade for Violin and Orchestra) and Dmitri Shostakovich (Symphony No. 5).
This year marks the centenary of Bernstein’s birth.
Founded in 1913, the Houston Symphony is one of the oldest orchestras in the United States.
The concert, featuring violinist Hilary Hahn, a three-time Grammy winner, as the soloist, will be another in the “Orchestras of the World” series in which Warsaw’s National Philharmonic recently hosted the Chicago Symphony and the Czech Philharmonic orchestra.
