More foreign tourists travelling to Poland: report

Some 83.8 million foreign tourists came to Poland in 2017, 4.1 percent more than in the previous year, the Rzeczpospolita daily has reported, citing data from the Central Statistical Office (GUS).

Of the foreign tourists, 18.3 million stayed overnight and 65.5 million were day-trippers, the Rzeczpospolita daily reported.
People aged between 35 and 54 comprised 48.2 percent of all the foreigners travelling to Poland last year, whereas those aged between 25 and 34 accounted for 18.8 percent, the paper said.
Foreigners spent PLN 56.7 billion (EUR 13.3 billion, USD 15.4 billion) on their trips to Poland, which was 3.6 percent more than in 2016.
Meanwhile, Poles made 13.4 million holiday trips abroad in 2017, which usually lasted five days or more, GUS said.
Some 7.36 million Polish tourists travelled beyond the Schengen zone, with the total growing by 5.5 percent compared to 2016.
They spent PLN 28.2 billion on foreign trips with overnight stays and PLN 12.8 billion on day-trips, the paper added.
