Beach volleyball success for Polish duo

Polish beach volleyball duo Grzegorz Fijalek and Mariusz Prudel won the World Tour Grand Slam in The Hague on Sunday.

The Polish doubles beat Americans Phil Dalhausser and Sean Rossenthal 2:1 (21:18, 13:21, 15:13).

The Poles had participated three times in the in the World Tour final, losing out twice until now. In 2011, they lost in Norway, and last week in the Swiss resort of Gstaad.

The success is Fijalek’s and Prudel’s greatest since getting to the quarter finals at the London Olympics in 2012.

Meanwhile, the Polish Beach Handball Tour took place over the weekend in Warsaw.

The event was the fifth out of six this season which count towards the Polish championships. Twelve women’s and fifteen men’s teams took part in the event from across Europe.

The men’s BHT Auto Forum Petra Plock won the tourmanent, beating CBMP Ciudad de Malaga. In the women’s event, Piotrkowianin Juko Piotrkow came up trumps. (jb)
