Cyclist Bujak wins gold in European Championships

Eugenia Bujak has won a gold medal for Poland in the women’s points race at the UEC Elite Track European Championships in Baie-Mahault, Guadeloupe.

The 24 km race comprised of 72 laps, with a sprint every sixth.

Bujak finished the final with 21 points, while Belgian Kelly Druyts took silver with 11 points, and Italian Elena Cecchini came in third.

The Guadeloupe victory marks the highpoint of Bujak's career to date.

Born in Lithuania, 25-year-old Bujak won the Polish National Road Race Championships earlier this year.

The UEC Elite Track European Championships end on 19 October. (nh)
