Poland has proposed six cities as potential hosts (Bydgoszcz, Gdansk, Lodz, Katowice, Krakow, and Wroclaw) and four will ultimately take part in the event.
“Each one of these cities boasts world-class venues and thousands of fans are expected to flock to the arenas, similarly to what happened only a few weeks ago with the men’s World Championship, where the men in red and white jerseys seized the title for the second time in their history,” CEV enthused in a press release.
CEV noted that Poland “has been nicknamed 'Volleyland' following the terrific success” of the World Championship.
On Monday, President Bronislaw Komorowski awarded medals to members of the Polish Men's team, following their triumph this September.
Polish Volleyball Federation President and CEV Vice President Miroslaw Przedpelski has said that the final match of the European Championship should be hosted at the National Stadium in Warsaw. (nh)
