The 33-year-old sportswoman announced her decision at a special press conference held in the Baltic city of Sopot recently, summing up what she called “a colourful career”.
Rogowska bows out of the sport with eight medals, including an Olympic bronze taken at Athens in 2004 and a gold medal at the Berlin World Championships in 2009.
Among other accolades, Rogowska also won a string of medals at the Indoor Athletics European Championships, taking gold (2011), two silvers (2005 and 2013) and bronze (2007). The pole vaulter also won a silver in 2006 and bronze in 2010 at the World Indoor Championships.
“I feel satisfaction as a sportswoman and I am proud to have represented my country,” she said.
Rogowska’s personal bests are 4.85m indoor and 4.83m outdoor, both Polish records in the discipline. (jb)
