The reports follow earlier rumours that the 'Red Devils' had their sights on the Polish skipper.

UK paper The Star on Sunday says that Bayern trainer Pep Guardiola is considering whether the pair ''are key to his plans.''

According to the paper Manchester United are now ''on alert that Bayern Munich could be willing to offload Robert Lewandowski and Bastian Schweinsteiger.''

Lewandowski has only been with the Munich side for one year, and he is already the 10th-highest paid footballer in the world. (nh)
